  1. Stuart says:

Thanks for a great show guys – so many great tracks (as usual). In particular liked the Frank O, Jo Ann Garrett & Chuck Jackson songs.

Merry Xmas & Happy New Year to all of you, hopefully meet up with some (or all) of you in the very near future.

    Best wishes

    Stuart & Pauline

  2. John Benson says:

Great show, as to be expected though…

Paul, just one thing though, I could have sworn that the Jo Ann Garrett 45 was pure Chicago through and through – not really something to be part of a Detroit selection!
Great tune though I have to agree, as were all the guests selections.

Looking forward to part two all the same.

    Seasons greetings everyone!

  3. A great selection of tunes, as always on the Soul Cellar! It’s always good to hear ‘Motown’s best secret’, The Originals. By far their best album is, I think, ‘Down to love town’, but I liked the song you played as well.

  4. Paul T says:

    Morning John,

    I hope you’re well.

Paul kindly forwarded your email concerning the Jo Ann Garrett 45 I played during my ‘Detroit montage’. I must admit to not having chapter & verse on this track but probably wrongly assumed that although it was on Duo, a label I thought was distributed by Summit in Chicago, it was actually from Detroit. As it was also written & produced by Andre Williams & had a ZTSC matrix it pointed to me that it came from the Motor city rather than across the lake ! Was checking the details on my Sheryl Swope 45′s as well & they all look like Detroit productions, Mike Terry & Bridges, Knight & Eaton particularly.

I’d be interested to know a bit more about the lady & her tracks if you have the time, as well as how the whole distribution thing worked & why everything indictates Detroit but ends up being Chicago.

Really appreciate your interest & of course, thank you for listening !!

    Have a good Christmas,

    Cheers, Paul
